π US STOCKS & CRYPTO β MARKET REPORT
BTC holds above $86K as markets wait for the next move
Fear & Greed is at 68 (Greed). Bitcoin is around $86.3K after testing $87.4K twice this week without breaking through. Volume remains light, suggesting the market is still waiting for a clear catalyst and directional breakout.
The bigger picture is mixed: crypto sentiment remains constructive, but rising US yields and persistent inflation pressure are creating a significant macro headwind for risk assets.
πͺ CRYPTO
Bitcoin
- BTC: $86,289
- ETH: $2,715
- Global crypto market cap: $2.93T
- 24H crypto volume: $75.38B
- BTC dominance: 59.1%
- Fear & Greed: 68 β Greed
- Altcoin Season Index: 62/100
BTC has now been rejected around $87K three times since September 23. Monday also saw $89.8M in US spot Bitcoin ETF outflows, after $189.9M of inflows on Friday.
The important point: positive regulatory headlines are not translating into immediate price strength. BTC is still struggling to clear $87K, so fund flows and the upcoming macro data remain more important than headlines.
ποΈ CFTC OPENS NEW CRYPTO RULEMAKING
The CFTC opened a 60-day comment period on proposed federal rules covering retail crypto transactions and introduced a voluntary βcrypto asset marketβ registration category.
Chairman Michael Selig said the framework is intended to address fraudulent schemes before they become another FTX-type event.
This comes after the CLARITY Act failed to advance in the Senate on September 15.
βΏ METAPLANET INCREASES BTC ALLOCATION
Metaplanet revised its capital allocation policy:
85β90% of total assets β Bitcoin 10β15% β acquisitions and income-generating investments
The company held 44,000 BTC as of September 30, up from 30,823 BTC when it began its Bitcoin strategy a year ago.
β¦οΈ BITMINE CROSSES 6M ETH
Bitmine now holds 6.02 million ETH, worth roughly $15.5B, representing about 4.9% of Ethereum's circulating supply.
That puts it 99% of the way toward its 5% ETH ownership target.
Around 84% of its ETH is staked, generating approximately 2.63% annualized yield and potentially around $363M in annual staking revenue.
π STRATEGY POSTS RECORD BTC GAIN
Strategy reported a $20.91B digital-asset gain in Q3, its largest quarterly gain ever.
The company now holds approximately 848,000 BTC, while only adding 334 BTC after September 30.
It also repurchased $151.6M of STRC preferred stock.
The new US accounting rules allowed Strategy to recognize the Bitcoin appreciation differently, producing a deferred tax benefit of roughly $5.6B.
π°π· SOUTH KOREA'S CRYPTO ECONOMY
South Korea generated approximately $449.1B in crypto economic activity in the year through June 2026, making it the largest crypto economy in East Asia.
AI-linked tokens overtook XRP as the most actively traded category by won volume.
Worldcoin led AI-token trading with $7.41B in volume.
Meanwhile, China's peer-to-peer stablecoin transfers have reportedly increased 43x over two years, despite the country's crypto ban.
πΊπΈ US MACRO β THE BIGGEST RISK
π₯ SERVICES INFLATION IS BACK
The ISM Services Prices Paid index jumped to 74.0, its highest level since July 2022 and above 70 for the sixth time in seven months.
Fuel was the most frequently cited cost pressure.
The headline Services PMI remained expansionary at 54.9, while the employment component recovered to 50.1, back above the 50 threshold.
This is important because the inflation side of the economy is showing renewed pressure even while growth remains solid.
π 10-YEAR YIELD HITS 5.32%
The US 10-year Treasury yield closed at 5.32%, a new 52-week high and the highest level since 2002.
The 30-year yield reached 5.67%, while the 2-year sits around 4.82%.
Markets are currently pricing only around a 20β24% probability of a Fed rate hike on October 28.
The key events ahead:
Wednesday: September Fed meeting minutes October 14: September inflation data
The question is whether Fed officials are becoming increasingly concerned about another rate hike.
π WHY ARE US STOCKS STILL NEAR RECORD HIGHS?
Despite Treasury yields being at multi-decade highs, US equities remain strong.
S&P 500 Q3 earnings are expected to grow approximately 29.5% YoY, with full-year 2026 earnings growth forecast around 32.4%.
The S&P 500 forward P/E is around 19.0x, below its 5-year average of 19.8x and close to its 10-year average of 19.1x.
But there is a major issue:
S&P earnings yield β 5.26% 10Y Treasury β 5.32%
That means investors are currently accepting slightly less expected earnings yield from stocks than the risk-free Treasury yield.
For equities to continue pushing higher, earnings growth needs to remain strong enough to justify the valuation.
π―π΅π¨π³ TREASURY DEMAND
Ray Dalio warned that Japan and China could reduce their Treasury purchases.
Japan held around $1.1T of US Treasuries in July, while China held approximately $618B, down substantially from its 2013 peak of $1.3T.
This makes Treasury auctions particularly important.
Today: $58B 3-year Treasury auction Wednesday: 10-year auction Thursday: 30-year auction
Watch demand closely. Weak auctions could put further upward pressure on yields.
π’οΈ OIL β BRENT FALLS BELOW $100
Brent has dropped below $100 after Saudi Aramco cut its November Asian selling price.
Brent: ~$98.67 WTI: ~$87
Aramco reduced its Asian Arab Light discount to $5 below the regional benchmark, the lowest level in roughly six years.
The signal is mixed.
Saudi Arabia says global oil inventories are βscarily thin,β while the price cut may indicate an attempt to regain market share.
Meanwhile, the Strait of Hormuz remains dangerous.
Several tankers were reportedly hit by projectiles over the weekend, while another tanker turned around after threats from Iran's Revolutionary Guards.
So oil is facing two opposing forces:
More supply / weaker demand β bearish oil Hormuz disruption / geopolitical risk β bullish oil
For markets, watch diesel and refined-product prices, not just crude.

π― DELTANODE MACRO READ
BTC: π‘ Neutral / range-bound US Equities: π’ Bullish, but increasingly yield-sensitive US Yields: π΄ Bearish pressure on risk assets Inflation: π΄ Reaccelerating pressure Oil: π‘ Falling, but geopolitically unstable Crypto sentiment: π’ Greed ETF flows: π΄ Recent outflows BTC resistance: $87Kβ$87.4K Key BTC question: Can BTC break $87.4K with real volume?
The market is currently showing a divergence between strong equity/crypto prices and increasingly restrictive bond-market conditions.
For BTC, the clean signal is still the same: a convincing break above $87.4K with volume and improving flows would strengthen the bullish case. Repeated rejection with weak volume keeps the market vulnerable to a deeper pullback.
For US stocks, earnings are currently overpowering the yield problem, but 5.3%+ 10Y yields are becoming a serious valuation headwind.
Key events to watch: β‘οΈ Fed minutes β Wednesday β‘οΈ 10Y Treasury auction β Wednesday β‘οΈ 30Y Treasury auction β Thursday β‘οΈ US inflation β October 14 β‘οΈ BTC reaction around $87Kβ$87.4K β‘οΈ ETF flows β‘οΈ Oil + Hormuz developments β‘οΈ Treasury demand and yields
Bottom line: Risk assets are still holding up, but the macro backdrop is becoming less comfortable. BTC needs to clear $87.4K, while equities need earnings growth to keep outrunning rising Treasury yields. Until then, this remains a waiting game rather than a clean directional market.
